Heritage Festival Quilt Show

Quilt Show:  October 17, 2009 - 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm
Quilt Drop Off:  October 15, 2009 – 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Quilt Pick Up:  October 17, 2009 – 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm
Registration Due Date:  September 21, 2009 

Categories:

  1. Heritage Quilts – family heirloom or collector’s heirloom quilts
  2. Large Quilts – smallest side is 60 inches or greater
  3. Small Quilts – lap, throw, or crib size; smallest side less than 60 inches
  4. Wall Quilts – designed to hang on a wall
  5. Wearable Art – vests, jackets, purses, etc.
  6. Other - table runners, pillows, etc.

Techniques for Categories B – F

  1. Hand Quilted
  2. Machine Quilted

Qualifications:

  1. Due to limited space, one entry per category/technique may be entered by each quilt owner.
  2. In order to guarantee your quilt will be displayed, a registration form must be completed and received for each entry by September 21, 2009.  If form is received after due date, quilts will be displayed if space is available.
  3. Quilts will be hung using safety pins.
  4. All entries must hang for the duration of the show and may not be removed for any reason prior to the designated pick-up time.

Judging:  Quilts will be judged for overall appearance, construction techniques, color, design, and quilting stitch. The judge reserves the right to not award all prizes and to re-categorize entries. The show is open for all levels of quilters with multiple categories for winning.  Ribbons for Best of Show, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will be awarded for each category/technique.

Viewer’s Choice:  Viewer’s choice ballots will be collected from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.  Ribbons will be awarded for each category/technique.

The exhibitor agrees to assume responsibility for any damages or loss to his/her property and agrees to hold Union County Heritage Festival, Inc., the Union County Historical Society, the Roy Acuff Union Museum and Library, and Norris Lake Quilting Bee harmless for any claim or lawsuit.  The exhibitor agrees to cooperate full with all rules of the festival and the town of Maynardville, TN or will be asked to leave the show.
